Want to be a player?

Every summer we post any openings for the next season in woodwinds, brass and percussion.  And as we grow the orchestra, and perform “big” selections like the Mahler 1stwe’re always interested in adding string players!

So just contact us whenever you’d like, even during the season, to see if there are openings. You can e-mail our president, Gretchen Kroos, to secure an audition time, at gkroosnpoi@gmail.com

Rehearsals during the season – September-May – are 7:30-10 p.m. Tuesdays at the Irving Arts Center, with dress rehearsals beginning at 7 p.m. and a Saturday rehearsal before our Sunday performances, from 1:30-4 p.m.

Auditions for the 2018-2019 season are scheduled for August 28th, from 6:30pm – 9:00pm at the Irving Arts Center, 3333 N. MacArthur Blvd., Suite 200, Irving 75062.

The only paid positions are string principals, and we do not have any principal openings for the 2018-19 season.

To audition as a strings section player – violin I and II, viola, cello and bass – prepare approximately 5 minutes of two contrasting works – i.e., one movement of a concerto (no accompaniment required) and a short section of a Bach sonata or suite.  You could expect a short sight-reading as well.

For specific positions in winds and brass, we advertise these positions, but you are welcome to audition for our substitute list.
