The Richard Giangiulio Youth Concerto Competition

The NPOI and Irving Independent School District announce their 2026 Annual Richard Giangiulio Concerto Competition. The winner will receive the opportunity to play as a soloist with the NPOI and a $1000 scholarship, funded in part by a gift from Mark and Lucy Clark. A concerto must be chosen from the Recommended Repertoire List or have his/her choice approved by the NPOI Conductor/Music Director prior to the audition. Auditions will be scheduled after school hours.


Audition Information:

Deadline to apply is March 14, 2026.

  • Audition Date — TBD
  • Audition Location — MacArthur High School
  • Audition Time — TBD (after school hours)


For winner:

  • Rehearsal Date: Tuesday, May 5 (potential) — 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Rehearsal Date: Tuesday, May 12 — 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Rehearsal Date: Saturday, May 16 — 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Performance Date: Sunday, May 17, 2026 — 3:30 p.m. (2:30 p.m. sound check)

Eligibility

Contestants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Reside in Irving, TX
  • Attend an Irving ISD High School


Fees and Applications

  • Entry fee — $20
  • Application Deadline — Friday, March 14, 2026

To enter the competition, please complete and submit the application below. Your entry fee** must be mailed or delivered before the application deadline, March 14, 2026,  to:
