Announcing the 2019 winner of the NPOI Richard Giangiulio Youth Concerto Competition

Congratulations!

Marshall Romanick Baldwin is a Senior at MacArthur High School, where he is concertmaster of the Varsity Orchestra. He has been a member of All Region Orchestras for the last six years, two years each in the Concert, Philharmonic, and Honors Orchestras respectively. Last year, he won a gold medal at the Solo/Ensemble All State Competition in Austen for his performance of Kreisler’s “Praeludium and Allegro.” He has studied for six years in the studio of Becky Rathbun (Bedford, TX) and would like to express his appreciation for her excellent teaching and unflagging support.

Beyond music, he is currently a National Merit Semi-Finalist, National AP Scholar, and applying to colleges across the country where – in addition to keeping up with his violin – he aims to pursue his interest in meteorology.
